Javascript Library Roundup
» Nov 7, 09:47 PM  Add to Delicious!

There are so many of them, but there are only 10-15 which make the life of web-developers easier. Javascripts: tiny, small, but extremely useful instruments – such as form checkers, style switchers, expanding/collapsing layers scripts, table sorters; sometimes they are even more useful than you think they ever could be.

But have you ever wondered where you could get those? Or why you never are able to find them when you need them? I have. Therefore here is the Javascript Libraries Roundup, the list of several web-sites presenthing the essential javascripts’ toolboxex for web-developers. You definitely shouldn’t miss them. I am sure you won’t now.

How Much Is My Blog Worth?
» Oct 31, 11:14 PM  Add to Delicious!

The Business Opportunities Weblog counts, how much money does your weblog is worth of. This little applet using Technorati’s API which computes and displays your blog’s worth using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal.

Wow. I haven’t expected this result.

About my life, my work and my source of creativity
» Oct 31, 10:45 PM  Add to Delicious!

To be honest, when someone asks me about myself, I really – really – hate it, because there is too much to describe about my life, the changes in my life and my view of the future which lies in front of me. So when Marko Mihelcic has asked me about the interview for his new site (nice AJAX navigation menu, by the way), I sighed, took a deep breath and forget about the e-mail for a week. However, it didn’t take much time until I just couldn’t resist my curiosity. The result – this interview, posted on mcville.net, together with the interviews of web gurus – i.e. Shaun Inman.

How to design a list?
» Oct 22, 01:41 PM  Add to Delicious!

Recently I’ve been receiving a lot of e-mails from my readers, who are concerned about the design of the Web Developer’s Handbook – a list of essential web-sites, tutorials, references and examples (related to CSS Navigation Menus, CSS- & HTML-Techniques, Layouts, Accessibility, Usability, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) etc.), which make the life of web developers easier.

So the question I’d like to pose is what is the best way of presenting 700-800 links on a one single page? Writing about this problem, I am not only talking about my project. I am interested in the common solution of this problem – from different perspectives and points of view such as accessibilty, readability, usability etc.

[...]

What do you think? What do you prefer? Since “The Web-Developer’s Handbook” is supposed to be usable, readable and accessible for all the web-developers who are willing to use it, I think it’s necessary to ask you, what do you think about it. I’d be grateful for any help or suggestions coming from your side.

I am... single!
» Oct 20, 08:02 PM  Add to Delicious!

No, it isn’t related to the fact that I am programming, working, learning, reading, writing, observing, creating and thinking a lot. I spend a lot of my spare time with my friends and the friends of the friends and so on. Sometimes I just walk in a central park trying to get a new idea, new feeling or new point of view, observing the nature. It’s just sometimes I have a feeling that I haven’t met the right person so far.

Walking through the empty streets of Saarbruecken the other night, I thought that I could spend this beautiful, romantic evening together with a person I’d be willing to share my experience, my feelings, my knowledge with. I stopped, looked at the stars in the dark, lonely, silent night sky. I enjoyed the stars, and this unique silent night. Suddenly, the voice of an old, tired man, wearing a dark overcoat and holding a cane made of wood broke the silence. He asked me whether I was thinking about a girl. “Not yet”, I answered. I wish I had… I wish I had!

Do you remember the fascinating story “The Little Prince”, written by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery? Sometimes I read it over and over and over again, wondering how small, almost imperceptible things build the foundation of humanity.

Today is the day after yesterday

To be honest, I have no words. I certainly haven’t expected such an enormous interest in the article I‘ve written on last Saturday. Apparently, my choice of the 20 best license-free quality fonts wasn’t as subjective as I thought it is, for my mailbox was literally flooded with dozens of e-mails, in which web-developers from all over the world thanked me for my kindness (well, I am not really that kind! :) ) and sharing my knowledge. Unfortunately, I just can’t respond to all the e-mails I’ve received – due to my work as well as the university studying.

Therefore I’d like to thank to everyone who wrote to me and supported me. I’d like to draw the attention of web-developers to two other projects I’ve created over the last few months – namely, the “Essential Bookmarks for Web-Developers” and “The Web Developer’s Handbook”. Both sites are ad-free, without any disturbing links and images, according to my personal philosophy. So if you regard any of the projects as useful, please support its further development via PayPal.

25 Best Free Quality Fonts
» Oct 15, 02:00 AM  Add to Delicious!

Recently I’ve been browsing through the Net searching for the best license-free fonts which would fit as a serious heading for a serious online-presentation. Fortunately, I wasn’t the first web-developer, who was trying to find such fonts.

I’ve found some collections, created by freelancing typo-artists, such as Manfred Klein’s Fonteria, Designer In Action: Fonts, Typemotion.de, Apostrophic Laboratories’ Collection, Identifont – Free Fonts and others.

So I’ve decided to create the Top 20 Best License-Free Official Fonts, which are likely to be used rather for official, serious presentations (such as business sites) than a colourful teenager’s homepage.

Most fonts presented below are absolutely license-free which means that you can use them for both private, personal and commercial purposes without any limitations whatsoever…
